The Offer Took a Personal Day
Two weeks ago I sold you Jennings as the Offer. He caught zero balls, then sat Week 2 for a personal matter. The ankle I told you to sit scored a 39-yard TD. I am not making this up.
The Offer Took a Personal Day
By GH | thegavfather.com
Two weeks ago I told you three things that sounded like a fever dream:
- The NFL would open on a Wednesday.
- The Offer was Jauan Jennings because the market still had him WR64 and we had him WR44.
- Sit TreVeyon Henderson until he practiced, because the back who "could practice" had not practiced since August 24.
Then Wednesday happened. (I checked. It was a real Wednesday. There was football on it.)
Jennings played his Vikings debut, caught zero of his one target, and then sat Week 2 for a personal matter. Not a hamstring. Not a protocol. A personal matter. The Offer took a personal day.
Henderson missed Week 1 with the ankle, came back in Week 2, rushed 16 times for 76 yards and a 39-yard touchdown, and out-touched Rhamondre Stevenson 16 to 7 after Stevenson fumbled.
I am not making this up. I am also not filing this under "vibes." This is the part of the column where the anthropologist admits the tribe updated the spreadsheet.
An anthropology of getting punched by your own Offer
In fantasy football, an "Offer" is a polite word for: we found a gap between our board and the market, and we are willing to put it on the homepage where your relatives can see it.
Jennings was that gap. Twenty positional spots. Upright. Not on the Exempt List. Not on PUP. Not Did Not Participate.
Week 1 in Minnesota: 0 catches, 1 target, about half the snaps behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Week 2: ruled out, personal. Next chance: Week 3 at Tampa Bay.
Our current Half-PPR file still has him as a mild BUY on paper — WR52 on our board vs WR64 at consensus ADP — because the model does not know how to price "personal matter" as a formation. Humans do. Until he is back on the field and getting footballs that are not intercepted on the first snap, he is not an Offer. He is a name I owe you an apology for putting on the refrigerator.
The data updates. So do we. Sometimes the update is: we were early, and early looked a lot like wrong.
The calls that did not take a personal day
Ashton Jeanty (LV). We had him as a BUY when the market still treated him like a mid-RB1. The live season board has him RB6 (overall 11) vs consensus ADP around RB11. Week 1: workhorse volume and an RB4-type explosion. Week 2: quieter box score (21 rushes, 48 yards, 4 catches on 7 targets) and still 25 touches in a win. Inefficiency is a mood. Twenty-five touches is a job description. Our Week 2 Half-PPR export still had him RB6 / overall flex #10.
Cam Skattebo (NYG). BUY at RB9 on our board vs ADP RB19. Week 1: 18 carries, 81 yards, a touchdown. Week 2: bottled up (12 for 36, plus 4 for 19) with Jaxson Dart exiting early and the offense turning into a fire drill. Volume survived the opener. The WR-room math still says he is not free money. He is also not a committee rumor.
TreVeyon Henderson (NE). The walk-back was correct: he was inactive for Kickoff Wednesday. The sequel was rude in a good way. Season board: RB14 / overall 24 vs ADP RB27 — still BUY. Week 2 usage after the fumble is the first real data point of 2026 for that backfield. Do not crown a timeshare off one Steelers game. Do not ignore a 39-yard score either.
Josh Jacobs (GB). Still on the Commissioner's Exempt List as of mid-September reporting. Our file: RB53 / overall 152 vs ADP RB14. That is a 39-spot positional FADE. Roger still does not answer group texts. Do not pay RB2 money for a man on a thinking list.
Nico Collins (HOU). We flagged the BUY gap into the season. He went off in Week 1 (7/10/75/TD) and then the hamstring took Week 2. That is not a model failure. That is a muscle.
What the board says this week (actual numbers)
Live rankings page: updated September 20, 2026, Week 2 / Half PPR. Season-long file on our side still opens Jonathan Taylor, Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs at overall 1–3.
Largest BUY gaps still upright on the season file (positional model vs consensus ADP):
- Brian Thomas Jr. (JAX): WR18 vs ADP WR35 — 17 spots. Through two weeks: 6 catches, 80 yards on 11 targets. Quiet. Not dead. Largest available gap that is still a real starter.
- TreVeyon Henderson: RB14 vs RB27 — 13 spots.
- Cam Skattebo: RB9 vs RB19 — 10 spots.
The homepage currently shows no Offer published. That is either rare honesty or a missing refrigerator magnet. Either way: use the arrows, not the nostalgia for Jennings' twenty-spot spread.
What you do before Week 3
- Jennings: hold only if your bench is a museum. He is not a Week 3 must-start off zero catches and a personal absence.
- Henderson: in the conversation as an RB2/flex after the debut. Monitor the split. Stevenson still exists.
- Jeanty: start him. Twenty-five touches do not need a TED Talk.
- Skattebo: startable again in a better script; Week 2 was environment, not a new identity.
- Jacobs: still a FADE until he is off the Exempt List and practicing like a person.
- Brian Thomas Jr.: the quiet 17-spot gap. If your league mates are still arguing about Wednesday Night Football like it is a constitutional crisis, take the discount that kept playing.
